Wildrye was created to provide great tasting natural grass-fed, grass- finished beef while inspiring others to have an intimate connection to the land.  Merging passion for the outdoors with our family ranch, we are able to continue a legacy of stewardship by providing beef to our local community.  Canada wildrye represents one of the many native grasses that make up the diverse ecosystem where our cattle graze.  Our goal is to provide a synergistic respect for the animals and the land.

THE MEAT

Wildrye beef is both 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, meaning all our cattle consume only native grasses and foraged plants, completely free of added hormones or antibiotics. These rotational grazing methods are environmentally optimized and ensure the land will be sustainable and productive for generations. 

Grass-finished beef is approximately 20% lower in calories than grain-finished beef and has higher levels of Omega-3 fatty acids, CLA's (Conjugated Linoleic Acid - an essential fatty acid thought to reduce heart disease, cancer risk, and body fat), Vitamins A & E, increased antioxidants, and lower levels of daily cholesterol.

Grass-fed beef has healthy fats. We typically think of Omega-3s coming from fish like salmon, but it turns out grass-fed beef can also be a great source. When compared to standard grain-fed beef, Wildrye beef has 2-4x more Omega-3 and a more favorable, anti-inflammatory ratio of Omega-3 to Omega-6 fats.

THE

WIELAND RANCH

Family owned and operated since 1884, the Wieland Ranch is a Texas Historic Ranch that was certified by the Family Land Heritage Program in 2005. It remains a working cattle ranch maintained and operated by Don Wieland, located about 80 miles south east of San Antonio in Yorktown, Texas. We are committed to creating a healthy regenerative habitat for our cattle and other native animals. Our goal is to design and continuously create a sustainable environment for our livestock from the natural ecosystem. By being good stewards and cultivating natural habitats, we strive to have a stress free environment that our customers not only respect, but can benefit from.
